After breakfast at the hotel, visit The Madu River, which flows across Balapitiya (approx 80km south of Colombo), is one of the rarely visited and unspoiled attractions any nature lover can find in Sri Lanka. She boasts of having a cluster of 64 small islands scattered along her path, most of which are uninhabited and covered with mangroves. The smallest islet of the lot is called “Satha Paha Doowa”, where there is a tiny shrine with a statue built in respect of the gods of Kataragama (Katharagama). According to folklore, this islet was purchased for five cents, but some claim the name comes from the shape of the five-cent coin. Madu is certainly a placid and memorable place of interest to any nature lover who longs to witness the mesmerizing landscape of nature. But over-thrilled visitors are forewarned—the Madu River is also a known den for crocodiles.

BENTOTA – NEGOMBO

Overnight stay at – Negombo
Breakfast at the hotel & proceed to Negombo. Check in at the hotel. In the evening, do a city tour in Negombo . The major beach resort on the West Coast is Negombo. The wide sandy beaches and the safe sea are the major attractions of Negombo, a traditional fishing town. Besides the beach, the fish market is worth visiting, where busy trading of a variety of fish, including prawns, crabs, and seaweed, takes place in the mornings when the fishing crafts return to the shore with their catch. The most popular fishing craft is the outrigger canoe called the oruwa, dug out from a huge log and seen in large numbers in the Negombo-lagoon.
