Arrive in Sri Lanka. You will be met by our representatives of Royal Holidays and transferred to Sigiriya.
Enroute to your destination, you can visit one of the most important tourist attractions in Sri Lanka, the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. Volunteers and caretakers provide shelter and take care of orphaned, abandoned and injured elephants within the park. You can watch caretakers feed, bathe and help these gentle giants. You want walk with the herd to the nearby river to watch the elephants bathe and play around in water.

Day 02
Sigiriya – Hiriwaduna – Minneriya – Sigiriya

After breakfast, Visit Sigiriya rock forest, which is a world heritage site, The “lion rock” is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70-hectare fortified town. The base of the rock is ringed by a moat, rampart, and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens. The world-renowned frescoes of the “heavenly maidens’ of Sigiriya which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway is one of the main attractions.
Then transfer to do Village safari, Hiriwadunne village in Habarana offers a unique village safari for tourists. Any traveller wanting to gain an insight in to the daily lives of the locals in this village can participate on their own volition in excursions, adventure safaris, agro tourism, night camping and Jeep safaris. Hiriwadunna is just 02 Km (05 minutes – drive from Habarana. The village trek begins with an awesome walk along a bund of a Wewa or manmade reservoir. The reservoir itself, the surrounding scrub jungle, marshland and village are a hive of early morning or an evening activity. The amazing birdlife, butterflies and possible sightings of crocodile only add to the charm of seeing the villagers as they go about their early morning tasks of fishing, or washing clothes at the periphery of the lake.
In the evening, you’ll be transferred to do a Jeep Safari in Minneriya National Park. Minneriya National Park is a national park in North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The reason for declaring the area as protected is to protect the catchment of Minneriya tank and the wildlife of the surrounding area. The tank is of historical importance, having been built by King Mahasen in third century. The park is a dry season feeding ground for the elephant population dwelling in forests of Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Trincomalee districts.

Sigiriya – Mathale – Kandy

Dambulla Cave Temple – was built by king Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C. Dambulla is a world heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meter.
Mathale Spice Garden – Visit a spice garden in Matale to learn about the various spices that Sri Lanka is famous for. The Matale spice gardens, located just 25 kilometers from Kandy’s hill capital, are among the best on the island. You’ll be introduced to various spices and shown how some of them are grown and processed. A processing and training unit have been established in the area, and farmers have formed a cooperative to ensure fair prices. Spices will also be available for purchase.

Kandy

One of the holiest and most important places for Buddhists is the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy, also known as Dalada Maligawa, which is located in the old kingdom in the country’s central highlands. One of Lord Buddha’s teeth is believed to be housed in the temple. The tooth relic was delivered to Sri Lanka by an Indian princess by the name of Hemamala many years after Buddha’s passing. A moat surrounds the temple complex, which is bordered by white elephant carvings. The temple complex also provided views of the four primary Devalas (God temples). As soon as you approach the temple grounds, you see statues of revered and well-known monks, including the Hikkaduwe Sri Summangala Thera and Weera Keppetipola Disawe, a hero of the Uva uprising against the British. You can see the Octagon and the golden canopy over the chamber holding the tooth relic clearly from this location.
Peradeniya Botanical Garden was established in 1821, six years after the final occupation of the Kandyan Kingdom by the English. The site is less than 5.5 km from Kandy on the Colombo Road, and occupies a loop of the river Mahaweli, which surrounds it on all sides except the south, where it is bounded by the main road. The area, 61.25 ha in extent, is about 1550ft from sea level. More than 4,000 species of plants, including woody trees, palms, ferns, orchids, and shrubs, are currently present within the gardens.
You can explore the sacred city of Kandy by visiting the Temple of Tooth Relic of Buddha as well as its sub-temples dedicated to the deities Paththini, Katharagama, and Natha. If you prefer to do a shopping tour, you can visit KCC as well as street shops in Kandy city.

Day 05
Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, proceed to Nuwara Eliya. Visit a tea plantation and a tea factory where some of the best tea in the world is produced. You will be told all about the process of manufacturing tea and also see how tea is graded. Try tasting a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory. Nuwara Eliya is Sri Lanka’s premier hill resort with a fine, bracing mountain climate. Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country, producing 50% of the world’s best tea. Sri Lanka’s highest mountain, Pidurutalagala (8280 ft), is located here. It is also famous for British architecture.
Ramboda Falls is located in Kandy’s Pussellawa district. The region is known for its beautiful landscapes, which include highlands, ridges, plains, streams, and hilly mountains. The Ramboda falls are the best of the attractions. Ramboda also has stunning scenery and rare birds cooing in the dense forests. Overall, a visit to Ramboda Falls will take you on a nature retreat.

Nuwara Eliya – ELLA (Train ride)

The Nine Arch Bridge, also known as the “Bridge in the Sky,” was built to connect two bog mountains while building the Badulla-Colombo railway. This bridge is 300 feet long, 25 feet wide, and 80–100 feet tall. It is one of the country’s best examples of colonial-era railway construction. The bridge is 2 kilometers away on Gotuwala road, beginning at Halpe Textile Centre on Badulla Bandarawela road. Because of the bridge’s architectural ingenuity and the abundant greenery in the nearby hillsides, the surrounding area has seen a steady increase in tourism.

Climbing up the Little Adams Peak in Ella is one of the favorite activities of tourists where they can enjoy the view of the valley, relax, and connect with other travelers. The drive from Ella Town to the foothills of Little Adams Peak takes about 45 minutes, and the summit takes about 15 minutes. While some might find the climb a bit tiring, the whole journey is very pleasing while passing through the local villages and tea plantations.
Ravana Waterfall When it comes to Ella sightseeing, it is a must to visit the famous Ravana Waterfall. It is one of the main waterfalls to see in Ella and is located at a distance of just 10 minutes from the city center. YALA

The Madu River, which flows across Balapitiya (approx 80km south of Colombo), is one of the rarely visited and unspoiled attractions any nature lover can find in Sri Lanka. She boasts of having a cluster of 64 small islands scattered along her path, most of which are uninhabited and covered with mangroves. The smallest islet of the lot is called “Satha Paha Doowa”, where there is a tiny shrine with a statue built in respect of the gods of Kataragama (Katharagama). According to folklore, this islet was purchased for five cents, but some claim the name comes from the shape of the five cent coin.Madu is certainly a placid and memorable place of interest to any nature lover who longs to witness the mesmerizing landscape of nature. Visitors who are overjoyed should be warned!– The Madu River is also a known den for crocodiles.
Visit the ancient city of Galle en route after breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Galle Dutch Fort. The Galle Fort, also known as The Dutch Fort or the “Ramparts of Galle,” withstood the Boxing Day tsunami, which damaged a portion of Galle Town’s coastal area. It was later repaired. The Galle Fort also houses the prestigious Amangalla resort hotel, which is close to the Dutch Reformed Church. It was constructed in 1684 to house the Dutch Governor and his staff. In 1865, it was converted into a hotel called the New Oriental Hotel, which catered to European passengers traveling between Europe and Galle Port in the nineteenth century.

The city still has a century-old clock tower and a number of colonial structures constructed by the British. The folk-art center, the new parliament in Sri Jayawardenapura, the Bandaranaike memorial international conference hall, the Pettah bazaar, where one can find bargains, a Hindu and a Buddhist temple, residential areas where mansions of the wealthy can be found, the Colombo Museum (outside visit only), and others are some of the places of interest that one can visit.
