In Sri Lanka, the number of waterfalls is incredibly disproportionate to the small area of the country. The Central Highlands are home to most of them. Most of these magnificent waterfalls can be easily visited without taking long excursions off the main roads that you will inevitably take when visiting Sri Lanka. If you want to explore them seriously, some of them are located in lush forests, but they are marked on any Sri Lankan map or in any Sri Lankan travel guide. In the lowlands of the island, the small streams that come from the central highlands become rivers.
